MCP server privacy policy

Last updated: August 2026

This privacy policy covers the modelrisk-mcp and modelchoice-mcp servers — open-source programs (MIT licence) that you install and run entirely on your own computer. They allow an AI assistant that you have chosen and configured — such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or Zed — to read and modify Microsoft Excel workbooks on your machine through Vose Software's ModelRisk and ModelChoice add-ins. For the www.vosesoftware.com website, see the Vose Software privacy statement.

What data the servers process

The servers read the contents of the Excel workbooks you direct them to, and pass that content to your AI assistant so it can carry out your instructions. All processing happens locally on your computer, between the server, Microsoft Excel and your AI client. The servers do not read files you have not asked them to work with.

What Vose Software receives

Nothing. The servers contain no telemetry, no analytics, no account system and no network connection to Vose Software. Your spreadsheet data, prompts and results are never transmitted to Vose Software or to any third party by these servers. Data you exchange with your AI assistant is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy, not by this one.

Licensing

The ModelRisk and ModelChoice Excel add-ins that the servers drive require a licence from Vose Software. Licence activation is handled by the add-ins themselves under the Vose Software privacy statement, not by the MCP servers.

Verifying these statements

Both servers are open source, so every statement on this page can be verified in the code: github.com/vosesoftware/modelrisk-mcp and github.com/vosesoftware/modelchoice-mcp.
