Technical

  • Can I increase the speed of the simulation?
    • The default settings of ModelRisk are configured to run the fastest simulations. Please check if the default simulation settings are set to 'Refresh Excel on'.

If it is, then switch it off and then the simulation will run faster. The 'Demo run' option selected by choosing Start -> Demo provides you with the option to run the simulation slower and illustrate the simulation process. In the Demo mode, the workbook is auto-updated after each iteration.

  • What file formats does ModelRisk use?
    • You can save ModelRisk results in many formats such as –

      1. ModelRisk models can be saved in an Excel format.

      2. Simulation settings are saved in files with a .vmro extension.

      3. Simulation results can be saved in files with a .vmrs extension.

      4. Optimization results can be saved in files with a .vmrz extension.

  • What do I do if I have models made in other risk analysis software?
    • ModelRisk includes conversion tools for the two most common competing risk analysis Excel add-ins: @RISK from Palisade Corporation; and Crystal Ball from Oracle. There are some differences in how @RISK and Crystal Ball behave in comparison with ModelRisk. Although the converters will handle most models, we recommend that you try running the original models and converted models and compare the results to be sure the conversion has been performed correctly.

Contact us on support@vosesoftware.com or use the following number during central European office hours to discuss model conversion on a consultancy base:

  • Can I share ModelRisk simulation results with a non-ModelRisk user?
  • Can I send a locked model to a client to simulate themselves with ModelRisk?
    • Yes, unlike most other competing products, which require the model to be unlocked during simulation, with ModelRisk you can share a password-locked version of your model file, protecting its math and data content.
