Several cumulative distribution plots can be overlaid together. The plots are easier to read if the curves are formatted into line plots rather than area plots:
Overlaying cumulative plots like this is an intuitive and easy way of comparing probabilities, and is the basis of stochastic dominance tests. It is not very useful, however, for comparing the location, spread and shape of two or more distributions, for which overlaying density plots are much better.
We recommend that a complimentary cumulative distribution plot is given alongside the histogram (density) plot to provide the maximum information.
